Let the number of animals in each pack be x.
Total number of animals will be 3x
after Josiah gave 6 animals to his sister the remaining animals were:
3x-6=9
thus sloving for x we have:
3x-6=9
add 6 on both sides
3x-6+6=9+6
3x=15
divide both sides by 3
(3x)/3=15/3
x=5
Answer:
There were 5 animals in each pack

Question
If 12 1/2% of a sum of money is $40 what is the total sum of money?
Solution 1

The total sum of money will be $320.

Let the total sum of money be represented by x.

Based on the information given, the equation to solve the question will be:

12 1/2% × x = 40

0.125x = 40

Divide by 0.125

x = 40/0.125.

x = 320

Therefore, the total sum of money will be $320.

Solution 2
12 1/2% = 12.5%

12.5% = $40

1% = 40 ÷ 12.5 = $3.20

100% = $3.20 x 100 = $320

Question
A ball is launched into the sky at 272 feet per second from the roof of a skyscraper 1,344 feet tall. The equation for the ball’s height h at time t seconds is h = -16t2 + 272t + 1344. When will the ball strike the ground?
Solution 1

Answer:

Time taken to reach the ball to the ground is 21 seconds.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : A ball is launched into the sky at 272 feet per second from the roof of a skyscraper 1,344 feet tall. The equation for the ball’s height h at time t seconds is h = -16t^2 + 272t + 1344.

To find : When will the ball strike the ground?

Solution :

The equation for the ball's height 'h' at time 't' is given by,

h(t)= -16t^2 + 272t + 1344

When the ball strike the ground the height of the ball became zero.

Substitute h=0 in the given equation,

-16t^2 + 272t + 1344=0

Taking 16 common,

16(-t^2 + 17t + 84)=0

or t^2-17t-84=0

Solve by middle term split,

t^2-21+4t-84=0

t(t-21)+4(t-21)=0

(t-21)(t+4)=0

t=21,-4=0

Reject t=-4 as time can never be negative.

Therefore, Time taken to reach the ball to the ground is 21 seconds.

Solution 2
The answer is -16(t+4)(t-21)
Question
American cheese 0.45 to 4.26 what is the percent increase
Solution 1
For this case we have the following rule of three:
 0.45 ------> 100%
 4.26 ------> x
 Clearing x we have:
 x = (4.26 / 0.45) * (100)
 x = 946.6666667%
 Thus, the percentage of growth is:
 946.6666667 - 100 = 846.6666667
 Rounding:
 846.7%
 Answer:

the percent increase is:

846.7%
Question
The average score on a standardized test is 750 points with a standard deviation of 50 points. What is the probability that a student scored more than 850 on the standardized test ?
Solution 1
The probability that student scored more than 850 we shall proceed as follows:
z=(x-μ)/σ
where:
x=850
μ=750
σ=50
thus
z=(850-750)/50
z=2
thus
P(x>850)=1-P(x<850)=1-P(z<2)=1-0.9772=0.0228

Answer: P(x>850)=0.0228

Question
A rectangle has a width of 8 centimeters and an area of 160 square centimeters a similar rectangle has an area of 250 square centimeters. What are the dimensions of the larger rectangle?
Solution 1
I'm a bit confused and there is not a lot of information given to this.

From what I know, the dimensions of the larger rectangle can be found from length x width = 250 square centimetres.

Any multiplication problem that equals 250 could work out for length x width.
Question
Which point best approximates the root of 45
Solution 1
To solve for √45 we shall proceed as follows:
We rewrite 45 as 3²×5
thus
√45=√(3²×5)
pulling terms out from under the radical we obtain
3√5
thus the exact answer form is:
3√5
or the decimal form is:
