Question
In the book The Giver There are two instances of rule-breaking in this chapter. Consider each one. Do you feel the punishment was justified?
Solution 1

Based on the question given this is the answer:

The punishment was justified because it was simple and straight to the point for the baby’s name to be mention early. It reflected the characters actions and if there was any punishment that was even crueler that wouldn’t be very fair.

Solution 2
Books provide their readers with a variety of different experiences, vocabulary, and perspectives to learn from and adapt in to their daily lives to better themselves. Banning any sort of book is banning a person’s right to educate themselves and broaden their perspective, so it should not be allowed.

(This could depend on what your points would be in the argument. This thesis is based off the argument that books give readers lots of different knowledge and experience that they might not have known about otherwise. Hope this helped!)

A fast food restaurant ran an advertisement on television. 2. Hank saw the advertisement and got hungry. 3. Hank went to the fast food restaurant and bought food.
Solution 1

Answer:

The best example of a cause-and effect chain of events is the following:

1. A fast food restaurant ran an advertisement on television.

2. Hank saw the advertisement and got hungry.

3. Hank went to the fast food restaurant and bought food.

Explanation:

Let's think about it backwards. Hank went to the fast food restaurant and bought food because he say an advertisement and got hungry. Why did he get hungry? He got hungry because he saw an advertisement for a fast food restaurant on the television. One of these things caused the other, which in turn caused the next thing.

While it may be tempting to think the answer might be A, it's not the correct answer. Carmen did not go to the music festival because Alonzo did. However, they did meet because they both went. It is cause and effect, but the three are not a chain which is what the question is asking.
